DRAMA SCRIPT
THE son OF kambujadesa.

[---]

I love this land. I love the dry wind and fragrance of the golden rice fields in the season of great harvest. I love.. the big swath of water and the fertility brought by our mother river in the season of rains. My mother, my father were born, lived and died here… and so did yours; and so will all of us here, the sons of Kambuj and the dragon mother. Now we are standing here, on this land under the dark storms of clouds and the thirsty wind and in front of the hell God, Yama. And we shall tell them that "All men here fear no death, no hell… and NO MEN".

My friends! I love my wife; I love… my son and daughter. And I love you all… and I love peace. I love the serenity and prosperity in times of peace. But TODAY we don’t fight for peace; WE FIGHT FOR OUR GLORY… FOR OUR PEOPLE… AND FOR OUR LAND... FOR OUR RIGHTS TO LIVE IN THE LAND WE LIVE, ALWAYS LIVE, AND ALWAYS WILL. And at the end of this battle, the world shall see that “NO MEN COULD TAKE PLEASURE IN THE WAR THAT THEY WAGE" and that "NO ONE MAN COULD PROCLAIM EVERLASTING VICTORY".

My countrymen, my comrades, my friends… I admire your strengths, your courage… and your sacrifice. And it is my honor to fight all the wars with you and this last war of ours today. AND TONIGHT WE’LL DRINK THEIR BLOOD AND CELEBRATE OUR GLORY TOGETHER IN HELL… (courtesy 300)

{THIS EXCERPT, TAKEN FROM THE GREAT SOON-TO-BE-MADE NOVEL "KAMBUJADESA - INSIDE THE KING'S WISDOM", DESCRIBED THE SPEECH DELIVERED BY PHOUMIDESAREAK, THE YOUNG PRINCE OF KAMBUJADESA TO HIS COMRADE SOLDIERS IN THE WAR AGAINST FOREIGN INVADER.}

a Wish. as IT IS.

As a human, I have one wish - see a world as one without any seperating factor such as religion, country, race, nationality...

As a Cambodian, I have one wish - meet the kInG of my fantacy.

As a villager, I have one wish - kick the asses of those who get drunk and beat their children and wives...

As a person, I have one wish - see people talk about people and not GoDs. See that we can become friends without even talking about gOds.

As a son, I have one wish - may my mum be rich so that she doesn't stop me from marrying a girl earlier.

As a brother, I have a wish - marry a younger, cuter wife than my brother's.

As a friend, I have a wish - never have feeling for your girlfriends and never fell in love with you who already have boyfriends.

As a student, I have one wish - stop trying to show off simple stupid things to earn some mark for a gd grade.

As a graduate, I have one wish - No need to sit myself down in front of you and act out so that you believe that i'm a man... a person you want to hire..

As a man, I have one wish - be cool, bold, and firm for real reasons.

As a virgin, I have one wish - be able to devirginize myself before 25 with a real girl and not in brothel.

As a husband, I'd have one wish - have four kids, 2 beautiful daughters + 2 smart boys.

As a father, I'd have one wish - bring my daughters and sons around and fooling you guys and girls just like some old man did to me. Wow...

As a dreamer, I have one wish - be able to lift the human spirit up in confidence and empowerment by oneself.

As a dreamer, i have one wish - dreaming a real dream.

poking khmer wounds.
the incredible dull.

Reading from those stupid histories, overlooking from the real life today and tomorrow, and studying on those outsiders' point of views, i've come to realize or rather confirm more and more on my perception that it really is so.

The French have an impression: "the Vietnamese plant rice; the Cambodians watch it grow and the Laotians listen to it grow." Of course some would say "Oh these people had come for a short span of time and gone, and how could they possibly rule out a sensible opinion about how we are?" But could it be true?

The elders like to tell stories of which i've never felt bored listening.. the pride they have that we're better and stronger, but i don't feel so. The Cambodians have been weak, and very weak, all along. I doubted that and it was never that hard to convince me so. But at least once i heard the name of this old rusty and fragile land disappeared from the world map few centuries ago.

Even small little thing i'd never bother to think.. In my village never occupied a vietnamese several years back. The last time I went back home a couple of years ago, there appeared plenty of them. That didn't surprise me at the first place; they came to do businesses with a few new factories opening up. BUT those few little coffee shops @ which i used to go watching movies when i was a little kid had just closed down. I was told the new vietnamese ones were better. Really so?

I've been always wondering... how could the other neighboring countries do better, and always better, than cambodia? I was told we had just recently recovered - or rather not so, but realeased, from that stupid war. I wondered as the vietnameses also went through even a longer, harder war. Is it really so, or...?

I argued it was the leader's ability.. then I was teased that i was too young or immature to have thought so. Emm maybe. But i probably need to learn, or shout, more.

Anyway thinking further about it; i shdn't blame only on him though i think he's the most responsible person for that. If the country stands lots of thinkers and real doers, I again think, no one person has that great power or impact on how the land grows.

I wish the cambodians were smarter and stronger. What am i to say so? and why i have that stupid reaction when i hear so. I don't know. I just don't understand.

Rith, Sothun, and Chhorng

Since the Angkor time, the word is more or less the same no matter how the country has changed.

It's been so hard a time for these few folks that they've come to love their country {too?} much.

"If I will be rewarded for my meritorious acts, I wish to be empowered to rebuild the pride of those who had sacrificed their lives for their visions that they brought for the land and the people and that for centuries never died." Khemara Phoumirak

Stay in Peace

Wonder when i can stay in peace like yesterdays... staying in a dark and peaceful nights with no light and noises. Happy with my family chatting about simple life stories with a pot of hot tea under the many stars dotting the sky.

I'm kinda lost sometimes on who i am and who i'm trying to be.

IF i were to freely decide by myself... if i were to be on my own self... if i were alone... if i were not trying to be a smart boy since the earlier time... if i didn't know the king... if i didn't know anything at all... i would marry my simple pretty wife and lead a life so peaceful... Wouldn't that be beautiful to make your girl and your whole family laugh a simple stupid joke.

I wonder why i could sleep so well there, but feel like hell every night trying to close my eyes here. I wonder why i need to think that much and why i cannot stop it.

Why do i need to prove you my self dignity... I'm stupid and insane... i'm telling you that i'm not as smart as you... or i'm more stupid than you, my friends. I wonder why i alw try to impress you that i'm not stupid too... oh i won't do it anymore.

I will try my best to do what i want to... and not because of you. It's me now, and no matter how, i won't look back into your face and tell you that i regret or i'm happy... i won't see you... but you can just know that i'm happy like so.

I'm going back to my hometown, Samrom village, Rokapopram commune, Tbong Khmum district, Kg Cham province... (ភូមិសមរម្យ ឃុំរកាពប្រាំ ស្រុកត្បូងឃ្មុំ ខេត្តកំពង់ចាម)។ We'll celebrate our peace. Good bye.

Lee Kuan Yew's Quote About Cambodia

In an effort to find out how my country was during the 1960s as rumors said that Cambodia then was a jewel of Asia... I found out this one quote, quite satisfactory though not yet confirmed to me that my country was really so.

Anyway, here's what he said then:

Up to the late 1960s, Cambodia was the shining star of Indo-China, a confluence of intellectuals, traders, artists and bourgeois who lived, played and worked there. Phnom Penh was the jewel of Asia then. Lee Kuan Yew, the first Prime Minister of Singapore visited Cambodia in April 1967 at the invitation of Prince Norodom Sihanouk. Cruising along the capital's elegant boulevards in a Mercedes convertible, Lee turned to his host and said, "I hope, one day, my city will look like this".

This kind of quotes or rumors really make my heart cool, warm, and at the same time hot... the inconvenient saying.

Before departing out of this world, we would love to see what we have done to help our country outpace others especially those in the region.

We surely could do that and our ancestors did so; at least during king Sihanouk's time, he did it. Whatever happened next were lessons. The Khmers were great people, at least for certain times. I won't lose this inspiration.

Let's collaborate and cooperate. We need to run fast... faster than ever at an unprecedented pace.

How to Rid of Pain & Sorrow in Life

One way to wash away the pain, sorrow, sadness, or suffering in life is to seek out and try to understand its causes. In this world of interrelated incidents, it's hard to find what the the real cause is. This only one little thing has many of causes; just like how we feel and how we love.

Many times we make mistakes; we blame ourselves or even God and get disappointed in life just because of our denial of the truth; the truth that everything in this seeing changes or will change. And yeah, people are reluctant to change, don't you think, atleast to some extent.

And the repudiation of this one truth also links to another cause of pain and sorrow. Guess what? That is your repudiating the fact that you don't own anything in this existence. How dare you say that? Okie! That's because you don't have any power to control it. Not only can't you control it, but you can't even know when it's gona go away from you.

Be ready to accept that your skin will no longer smooth and your hair will drop some day so that you won't have any pain and sorrow.

This is a relation of the three basic theories in life in Bhudda's finding; <Tukha, Anijang, Anita>.

Going on, we can also explain this phenomenon by the sub theory of <Loapha, Tosa, Moha>. Because of our denial of the truths, we're so resistent to our passion in life, which draws out our compassions and good judgements (Meta, Karona, Muteta, and Opekha; the four mentalities that seperate human kind from animals).

When we lost this four mentalities, we'd become selfish and ignorant. That paves the way for the 3 evils to come in control us. Loapha's the first that makes us deaf. Then Tosa comes to make us mute and Moha last but not least will drive us blind. Finally, we'd ask ourselves where my happiness is.

One'd say the evil can also find his happiness by his deeds. But remember, we are in this world not an island.

SOOOOO - Have u found out a way to eliminate your pain and sorrow?

I say 'Yeah'... How?

TRY TO MAKE YOUR MIND AND ACCEPT THE TRUTH IN LIFE.

Still, she's gone!

Not all of these arguments're neccessarily true. Find out the fallacies yourselves!

A RECALL
Be Strong, My Son

Now in Cambodia... Hardly have a new post as the freakingly slow internet is always killing me.

Emm yeah want to recall last week 3-day trip to Siem Reap. I'd got only half a day though to observe and study those beautiful carving on the temple wall. Okie i tell u: this observation's a small research for my future project that i'll never ever tell you unless u bribe me.

Hey amazing... i keep saying amazing... wonderful, marvelous, incredible.. What else can i say? I really cannot imagine how this beauty comes about. I wonder if i'm really a son of these superextraordinary people. A mountain of ugly giant stones can be piled up and decorated to be gorgeous highsky temples that those in the west at the time couldn't open their eyes and the same now couldn't have a word to say.

It was really breathtaking when the wall of the temple suddenly immersed from the jungle in front of my bicycle. It was not my first time there. But i did enjoy getting to the place. It is motivating and inspiring. You know how i feel when i'm realizing myself i'm a son of these people.

Now that my nation's in the backyard of the race.. i'm praying in every step i move. I was saying.. "i want to be your next one", and the 4 giant faces were smiling at me with a cold breeze running into my ears. And i can hear the sound; The sound of the wind saying "BE STRONG, MY SON". It’s truly magical if you know and if you believe.

With this always in my head, my heart held its beating and my brain split up to think. Along the road in the bus, thoughts were just flowing in a flush. A tire was flat and the downpour was just to start. It was a last reminding of the day.

Back in Phnom Penh, I said my last word to my father “I will pursue your greatness. And be with me”.

(From a son of the old empire)

You should have this motivation as a son of this great nation. This nation is not supposed to be in this state of living. We’re born to be successors and pursuers of the great and retrievers of everything we’ve lost.

I REMEMBER

ចម្រៀងចងដៃឆ្នាំថ្មី

Emm.. my beloved country... i remember i'd always wait for New Year to come.. Nothing much.. just a time that we could see our relatives, and enjoyed our village life as everyone'd be free from work.. Yeah.. so many rice and pork cakes left over from New Year. Those left over would be kept on fire for days or even weeks. I like eating those grilled pork cake also (my grandmum's a seller, she's the best for me as everyone always praises their elderly for this :).

Emm.. i miss every little chance i had in snatching the food and drink on the Devada shrine. Haha Devada never ate or drank anything as i noticed :).

I miss climbing up the oil pole.. what the hec, i never won those prizes on the top of the pole... I'd never be able to compete again (too old lolz). Oh but this time we can play the "breaking port, វាយក្អម".. emm should have been there. I also miss her asking me to accompany her for night dance, រាំវង់. Now it's not allowed to play pouring water, a really very fun game. But we can sometimes take opportunity to do it onto some gal next door. Haha remember lining up from the well to the main road just to pass the water to pour onto passengers..

Remember riding on my friend's horse cart to visit other villages (gals in other villages). Now no more ox or horse carts leh.. all are alr automated. Remember she picked my name in the love game (ស្តេចចង់). Remember giving rice, រាប់បាត្រ, to monks with her in my last new year day. Remember she got married just at the end of that year, God damn it.

Remember i always made good money from our traditional games (ខ្លាឃ្លោក, ស៊ីគូ, ក្រហម, អូសយិត...) OH remember watching and running away from a crowd of gangsters fighting.

Yeah kinda cool, my friends. Anyway, yeah have a fun reading with these 2 compositions:

1. កក់ចិត្តមុនចូលឆ្នាំថ្មី - រាំវង់ (Book Your Heart Before New Year)

2. លើកកាលីបប្រុសស្អាត - Madison (Boost Up Brandname)
